Tyneside boatbuilding · Factory segregation

A factory divider shaped around the building

A boatbuilder in Tyneside needed to separate its fibreglass fabrication area from the rest of the factory. A permanent partition would have offered little flexibility, so the team wanted an economical, semi-permanent solution that could be removed if the layout changed.

A bespoke divider designed around the existing factory structure.

The solution: a made-to-measure tarpaulin screen

We supplied a large tarpaulin screen tailored to the space and its fixing points, using the existing building structure and purlins. This approach created the separation the customer needed without the cost and commitment of constructing a permanent wall.

The result: practical separation, comfortably within budget

The finished screen provided a ready-to-deploy factory divider and came in well below the customer's budget. It also retained the flexibility to remove the partition when needed: a straightforward solution designed around the way the factory worked.

Truro, Cornwall · Heated loading bay

Sliding access where side space is limited

A car-parts wholesaler in Truro wanted to retain warmth in a busy rear loading bay while keeping deliveries moving. The doorway needed a curtain that could be opened easily, but there was no spare wall space beside it to accommodate a conventional curtain sliding sideways as a complete panel.

Clear strips across the loading bay, with a sliding system for delivery access.

The solution: strips that gather within the opening

Our sliding PVC strip curtain system offered a different approach. Operating in a similar way to a vertical window blind, the strips gather together at the side of the opening rather than requiring a full curtain-width of clear space beyond the doorway. The gathered strips occupy some space within the opening, so the required delivery clearance is considered when specifying the system.

The result: a better fit for a busy loading bay

The customer gained a flexible barrier to help retain heat during normal use, with the option to draw the strips aside for deliveries. It was a practical answer to a doorway where conventional sliding arrangements would not fit.

Midlands distribution · Bespoke colour combination

Industrial curtains with a corporate identity

When a major multinational company approached us for PVC strip curtains at its Midlands distribution facility, the initial requirement appeared straightforward. A closer conversation revealed that appearance mattered just as much as everyday practicality: the customer wanted the installation to reflect its red corporate identity.

Red PVC material brings a distinctive colour option to industrial curtains.

The solution: red and clear PVC strips

We designed a curtain arrangement combining red strips with clear PVC. The coloured sections echoed the customer's branding, while the clear sections retained visibility through the curtain. The specification brought the visual brief and the facility's practical doorway requirements together.

The result: a coordinated finish across the facility

The completed curtains gave a functional industrial product a distinctive, considered appearance. This project shows the value of discussing the details before ordering: a simple change to the strip combination can make the finished installation feel part of the wider workplace.

If you have a preferred colour scheme, talk to us about the available materials and a suitable balance of colour and visibility.

Hertfordshire stonemasonry · Workshop noise

Helping a stone workshop reduce escaping noise

A Hertfordshire stonemason contacted us after noise from heavy stone-cutting machinery prompted complaints and attention from the local council. The business needed a practical way to reduce noise escaping from the workshop without obstructing its day-to-day manufacturing process.

Overlapping heavyweight PVC strips provide a flexible barrier across the workshop opening.

The solution: a heavyweight PVC curtain

We supplied a large, heavyweight PVC curtain for the opening. The overlapping strips formed a substantial flexible barrier while preserving access through the doorway, allowing the workshop to continue using the route during production.

The result: a practical improvement for the workshop

The installation helped the customer address its noise problem while retaining the access the business needed. The benefit of this approach depends on the machinery, building, curtain specification and other paths through which sound can travel; this project does not establish a measured sound-reduction rating.

West Country nurseries · More than 25 installations

Supporting free-flow play with curtains designed for younger children

A local council in the West Country wanted to support free-flow play across its pre-school nursery settings. Keeping the route between indoor and outdoor play areas open gave children greater freedom to move between activities, but also left classrooms exposed to cold draughts during winter.

A lightweight curtain designed around access between indoor and outdoor nursery spaces.

The solution: a curtain developed for early-years settings

A standard industrial curtain was not the right starting point for toddlers. Its heavier PVC and conventional metal strip-hanging components were designed for a different kind of traffic. We developed a nursery-specific curtain with lighter strips and child-safe polycarbonate hanging plates in place of conventional metal strip-hanging plates. This combination was designed around the needs of younger children and everyday free-flow access.

The result: a council-wide installation programme

The council asked us to install more than 25 curtains across the area. The project helped settings maintain access to outdoor play while reducing the direct draught through open doorways, and contributed to the development of our specialist nursery curtain range.

Our school and nursery PVC curtains are designed for these everyday access needs. We can help you select a suitable curtain around the doorway, age group and your setting's supervision arrangements.

Simple measuring guide

How to measure for a PVC strip curtain

  1. 1

    Measure the clear width

Measure left to right in millimetres. For face fixing, allow approximately 100 mm beyond each side where space permits.

  2. 2

    Measure the total drop

Measure from the intended fixing point to the floor. Leave a small clearance so the strips move freely.

  3. 3

    Check traffic and temperature

Pedestrians, trolleys, forklifts and freezer environments each benefit from different PVC grades and overlaps.

  4. 4

    Send the details
