Specify the material, not just the colour
A clear strip can be standard, low-temperature or another specialist formulation. Appearance alone cannot establish its suitability. Match the grade, width, thickness and fixing system to the application before ordering. The PVC grades guide helps compare the available families; this page explains the technical information to check for a particular order.
Information to check by product
| Product | Information to confirm | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Standard and ribbed PVC | Nominal width, thickness, finish and intended operating conditions | Strip weight and flexibility affect passage; ribs change the contact surface. |
| Freezer-grade PVC | Grade identity and supported temperature range for the supplied material | Cold-room conditions must be matched to the actual formulation. |
| Anti-static PVC | Relevant material test information, test conditions and installation requirements | A specialist material alone does not establish the performance of an entire installation. |
| Welding-grade PVC | Screen classification, applicable evidence and limitations for the intended process | Tinted appearance is not proof of welding-screen suitability. |
| Track and hanging plates | Rail profile, plate width, compatibility and fixing arrangement | Parts need to work together and with the supporting structure. |
Request information for your specification
Send the product or grade name, proposed dimensions, traffic type and lowest and highest operating temperatures. For an existing curtain, include photographs of the rail, plate and strip edge. If your project requires a particular certificate or test method, name it before placing the order so the available supporting information can be checked.
Ask for product-specific technical information. Identify the exact material and revision in your project records; do not substitute a generic sheet for the grade being supplied.
Dimensions and compatibility
Record measurements in millimetres and distinguish the clear doorway from the finished curtain size. Check whether nominal strip dimensions, manufacturing tolerances and the final floor clearance suit your installation. For replacement work, confirm the existing hardware rather than assuming that all hook-on systems are interchangeable.
Use the ordering checklist for doorway measurements, then compare cut-to-length strips with rolls and hanging components. Keep the final quotation and supporting material information together for future maintenance.
