Choose the curtain around the process
Engineering workshop curtains can divide work areas, reduce draughts and provide a flexible boundary between adjoining bays. The right format depends on whether people need to pass through continually or whether a whole section must move aside for machinery and large components.
Start by describing what happens on each side. General workshop partitioning, welding screening and an equipment access route are different tasks. A clear PVC curtain should not be treated as a universal guard for every fabrication process.
Strip curtains for frequent pass-through access
Industrial PVC strip curtain kits suit routes where individual strips need to part around people or loads. Clear strips retain visibility and can be replaced individually when worn, provided replacement sizes and plates match the existing system.
Record the largest item that passes through, including its transport equipment. The curtain width and drop are only the beginning: contact with sharp edges, frequent movement and the surrounding temperature also influence the choice.
Sliding partitions for flexible work bays
A sliding workshop sheet curtain creates a continuous movable division. It can suit layouts where you want to draw a section aside between tasks. A sliding PVC strip curtain combines individual pass-through strips with the option to move the curtain away.
Before choosing a track layout, measure the available stacking space and note lights, services, racking and overhead equipment. Explain whether access is required from one side or across the full span. Use a sketch for corners or multiple bays rather than reducing a complex layout to one width measurement.
Welding needs welding-grade material
Where the task is welding screening, use the dedicated welding screens and curtains range. It includes red and green welding products, Spark Monkey Pro freestanding screens and made-to-measure welding sheets. Fixed or sliding welding strip curtains use the standard strip curtain quote tools with the appropriate material selected.
General clear PVC is not a substitute for welding-grade screening. Confirm the required material evidence and arrangement for the process. A curtain also does not replace extraction, personal protection or machinery guarding.
Prepare a useful workshop specification
- Describe the process and the reason for the division.
- Measure the required width, drop and available fixing structure.
- Include the full equipment and load envelope.
- Mark track travel, stacking space and nearby services on a sketch.
- State temperature, exposure and any project-specific material requirements.
For electronic assembly or other static-sensitive work, compare anti-static PVC curtains and review the electrical test data against your project specification. Material properties alone do not establish the performance of a complete controlled area.
Common workshop questions
Should I choose strips or a continuous sheet?
Choose strips where regular passage through the hanging curtain is important. Consider a continuous sheet where you want a movable division that is drawn aside for access. Discuss the work process if both needs apply.
Will a PVC partition soundproof a workshop?
Do not treat a flexible curtain as a certified acoustic enclosure. If noise reduction is a specified requirement, tell us the target and ask for suitable evidence before ordering.
Can I renew a damaged section?
Individual strips can be replaced on compatible systems. Send the strip dimensions and hardware details, or a photograph, to help identify what is needed.
From workshop layout to quotation
Use the online curtain quote tools for a straightforward specification. For multi-bay layouts or uncertain fixing arrangements, send your sketch and photographs so the curtain choice can be discussed first.
